Trajtenberg Economía y Finanzas Bin Bandwith Histogram Smothed parameter Kernel density function Nonparametric techniques have become essential tools for Data Analysis without imposingprior assumptions. The goal of this paper is to apply these methods to the study of thedistribution of Labor Income for male and female separately. In the first part an univariate analysis is performed; we estimate kernel density functions tofit to empirical distributions. This technique is a refinement of classical histograms, characterized by the presence of jumps or discontinuities and sensitiveness to the form andamplitude of the intervals or “bins”. The kernel density estimator replaces the rectangulars ofthe histogram by smoothed “bumps”, using weighting functions named kernels. This methodallows to capture differences in specific sections of the distribution, according to the interestof the researcher. In the second part we perform the analysis in a bivariate dimension. We use nonparametricRegression as alternative to traditional econometric models: it does not assume a particularstructure for the error term or for the functional form of the model. All these nonparametric techniques are applied for the study of Labor Income of male andfemale workers. The variable is analyzed by quintiles and is crossed with relevant variables asEducation and Labor Experience, with the aim of estimate regression functions and infercausality relations between them. The data come from the EPH (Encuesta Permante ofHogares), Waves 1999-2003. 2006 artículo científico 1666-5112 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46200805 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=462 Cuadernos del CIMBAGE application/pdf Universidad de Buenos Aires Cuadernos del CIMBAGE (Argentina) Num.8
