contents A new approach to Monte Carlo simulations in statistical physics D. P. Landau F. Wang Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas We describe a new algorithm that approaches Monte Carlo simulation in statistical physics in a different way.Instead of sampling the probability distribution at a fixed temperature, a random walk is performed in energyspace to directly extract an estimate for the density of states. The canonical probability can then be foundat any temperature by weighting by the appropriate Boltzmann factor, and thermodynamic properties can bedetermined from suitable derivatives of the partition function. 2004 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46434203 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.2A Vol.34
