contents Continuous time stochastic models for vehicular traffic on Highways Mário J. de Oliveira Áttila L. Rodrigues Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas We have simulated a continuous time version of the Nagel-Schreckenberger model of vehicular traffic on highwaysand calculated the flux as a function of vehicle density. In the low density regime the flux increaseslinearly with density but becomes a power law when velocities are allowed to increase without bounds. Wehave simulated also a modified version in which the state of a vehicle depends on the velocity of the vehiclemoving ahead. This model displays a phase transition from a state with nonzero flux to a jammed state at acritical density which is strictly less than the closed-packed density. We also study the relationship of this modelwith self-organized criticality. 2004 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46434206 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.2A Vol.34
