contents On the possibility of quasi small-world nanomaterials M. A. Novotny Shannon M. Wheeler Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas The possibility of materials that are governed by a fixed point related to small world networks is discussed. Inparticular, large-scale Monte Carlo simulations are performed on Ising ferromagnetic models on two differentsmall-world networks generated from a one-dimensional spin chain. One has the small-world bond strengthsindependent of the length, and exhibits a finite-temperature phase transition. The other has small-world bondsbuilt from atoms, and although there is no finite-temperature phase transition the system shows a slow powerlawchange of the effective critical temperature of a finite system as a function of the system size. An outline ofa possible synthesis route for quasi small-world nanomaterials is presented. 2004 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46434210 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.2A Vol.34
