contents Electric and Magnetic Field Effects on Electronic Structure of Straight and Toroidal Carbon Nanotubes Z. Barticevic A. Latgé M. Pacheco C. G. Rocha Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas Nanotubes have been proved as promising candidates for many technological applications in the nanoscaleword and different physical properties have been studied and measured along the few recent years. Here weinvestigate the role played by external magnetic and electric fields on the electronic properties of toroidal andcylindrical straight carbon nanotubes. A single-¼ band tight-binding Hamiltonian is used and two types ofmodel-calculations are adopted: real-space renormalization techniques, based on Green function formalism, and straight diagonalization calculation. Both electric and magnetic fields may be properly applied, in differentconfigurations, to modify the energy spectra and transport properties, providing metal-insulator transitions forparticular tube geometries. 2004 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46434429 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.2B Vol.34
