contents Exciton Confinement in InGaN/GaN Cylindrical Quantum Wires E. F. da Silva E. W. S. Caetano V. N. Freire G. A. Farias Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas We investigate the confined exciton properties in InGaN/GaN cylindrical quantum wires. We have solvednumerically Schr¨odinger-like equations in the effective mass approximation and have found the energy levelsand wavefunctions for confined electrons and holes, using these results to calculate variationally the confinedexciton energy. A comparison was made between graded and abrupt quantum wires, showing that the existenceof smooth interfaces enhances the confined exciton energy if the wire radius is smaller than 50 ° A. We concludethat the existence of graded interfaces must be considered for a better description of the exciton based opticalproperties of InGaN/GaN quantum wires. 2004 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46434449 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.2B Vol.34
