Rodriguez Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas We developed a model to describe the radiation-DNA interaction in water solution. The model is based onsome important aspects of the Bethe Theory for the ionizing process, and on the assumption that the directinteraction between the incident particle and the DNA molecule is negligible in comparison with the indirecteffect. This assumption can always be true under controlled conditions. The results show that the number ofdamages induced by radiation depends on the accumulated dose, on parameters related only to the mediumproperties, and on the DNA structure, but not on the incident particle. A few applications of the model arediscussed, and results are successfully compared with experimental data. New experiments are proposed. 2004 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46434567 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.3A Vol.34
