Theg8a run was the commissioning experiment for the linearly-polarized photon beam at CLAS. The aim of theseexperiments is to improve the understanding of the underlying symmetry of the quark degrees of freedom in thenucleon, the nature of the parity exchange between the incident photon and the target nucleon, and the mechanismof associated strangeness production in electromagnetic reactions. A beam of tagged and collimated linearlypolarized photons (energy range 1.8-2.2 GeV) in conjunction with the large solid angle coverage of CLASmake possible the extraction of the differential cross-sections and polarization observables for the photoproductionof vector mesons and kaons. The reaction channels ¡!° p ! ½0p ! ¼+¼¡p and¡!° p ! K+¤0 ! K+¼¡pare under investigation to search for possibly missing nucleon resonances. An overview of the experiment andpreliminary results on the measurement of the photon asymmetries of the aforementioned reactions will bepresented in this paper. 2004 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46434576 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.3A Vol.34
