contents Primary Radicals Production from Water Fragmentation by Heavy Ions E. C. Montenegro H. Luna Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas The importance of fragmentation of water molecules by heavy ions is discussed for several different physicalenvironments, including tumor treatment, planetary sciences and fission reactors. The characteristics of thefragmentation yields by electrons, protons and photons are presented and compared with fragmentation yieldsof water molecules by C3+ and O5+ ions at energies corresponding to the Bragg peak. It is shown that forlow energy electron loss and high energy electron capture, the water molecules essentially blow-out, releasing amuch larger fraction of Oq+ ions as compared with electrons, protons and photons. 2005 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46435603 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.4A Vol.35
