Duque Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas Effective mass approximation Hydrostatic pressure GaAs Double Quantum Wells Using the effective-mass approximation and the variational method, we have calculated the effects of hydrostaticpressure on the donor- and acceptor-related optical absorption spectra in symmetrical GaAs doublequantum well structures. A central finite potential barrier and two infinite external barriers constitute the profileof the potential barrier considered for the wells. Our results are presented as a function of the well and barrierwidths and hydrostatic pressure. For the pressure dependence we consider the G¡X mixing in the central barrierlayer. For symmetrical and infinite-external-barrier quantum wells, and depending on the sizes of the structureand the hydrostatic pressure, the donor-related spectra show three special structures, whereas for the acceptorone only two structures appear. 2006 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46436331 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.2A Vol.36
