Gordillo Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas SnS Phases Thin films Solar cells Optical properties Polycrystalline SnS thin films were grown on glass substrates using a novel procedure involving a chemicalreaction between the precursor species evaporated simultaneously. This is a relatively new material, which exhibitsexcellent properties to be used as absorbent layer in solar cells. X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurementsindicate that the synthesized samples grow in several phases (SnS, SnS2 and Sn2S3) depending upon the depositionconditions. However, through an exhaustive parameter study, conditions were found to grow thin filmspredominantly in the SnS phase with orthorhombic structure. It was found that this type of compound presentsp-type conductivity, a high absorption coefficient (greater than 104 cm¡1) and an energy band gap Eg of about1.3 eV, indicating that this compound has good properties to perform as absorbent layer in thin film solar cells. 2006 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46436566 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.3B Vol.36
