contents Jet Quenching Measurements at RHIC Olga Barannikova Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas RHIC Heavy ion Energy loss Jet quenching Experimental observation of jet quenching in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions is one of the most remarkablediscoveries at RHIC. High-pT hadron suppression, disappearance of back-to-back jets, and strongaway-side modification at intermediate to low pT have provided us many insights into the matter created atRHIC. Particularly, angular correlations have become a powerful tool to study the QCD matter through its interactionswith jets. Di-hadron correlations reveal significant broadening and softening of associated hadronson the away side of a triggered high-pT particle. Many mechanisms have been proposed to accommodate thedata, including the intriguing Mach cone shock waves in a thermalized hydrodynamic matter, which can bediscriminated by 3-particle correlations. Here a brief overview of these remarkable experimental measurementson jet quenching is presented and implications of these measurements are discussed. 2007 artículo científico 0103-9733 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=46437545 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=464 Brazilian Journal of Physics application/pdf Sociedade Brasileira de Física Brazilian Journal of Physics (Brasil) Num.2C Vol.37
