The results obtained suggestthe existence of two potential regions with different processes occurringduring Tl UPD in the presence of anions. In the first zone, at lowcoverage, there are two simultaneously occurring processes: desorptionof all chloride atoms, which are adsorbed on the gold substrateprior to the onset of Tl UPD, and thallium adsorption on the energeticallymost favorable sites (grain boundaries, steps, etc) present on theelectrode surface. During these processes a strong interaction amongthallium atoms is induced by the presence of chloride atoms on theadjacent sites. This strong interaction generates sharper current peaksin the voltammogram, associated with the above processes, and theirdisplacement towards cathodic potentials proportional to the anionconcentration. However, in the second potential zone at high coverage, the adsorption of thallium atoms takes place on the least accessiblesites (terraces) on the gold substrate. In this type of sites, theeffect of the presence of chloride atoms on the UPD process is unimportant. 2005 artículo científico 1870-249X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=47549408 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=475 Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society application/pdf Sociedad Química de México Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society (México) Num.4 Vol.49 |
