- Uncertainty, Profits, and International trade Frew Hailou Ciencias de la Información locations profit levels International trade This study looks at the impact of uncertainty and shrinking profits on international trade. Using a unique theoretical model, we find that remoteness is associated with substantial amount of trade costs. In fact, our study shows that for each additional dollar of trade costs incurred due to remoteness and jurisdictional inaccessibility reduce profit by as much as $ 0.91. Such situations precipitate considerable negative influence on profit levels, the consequence of which is a reduction in trade related activities. Using gravity model and data from 84 countries, we test the impact of location on trade volumes. Our result strengthens the validity of our theoretical assumptions and corroborate with findings in similar studies. 2013 artículo científico 1692-5858 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=476655656010 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=4766 Encuentros application/pdf Universidad Autónoma del Caribe Encuentros (Colombia) Num.2 Vol.11
