- Physiological responses of the red rocky crab Cancer antennarius exposed to different concentrations of copper sulfate Linda Lara Jacobo Fernando Díaz Ana Denisse Re Clara E. Galindo-Sanchez Ana Lorena Sanchez-Lizarraga Luis Antonio Nuñez-Moreno Dalia Moreno-Sierra Ciencias de la Tierra copper sulfate ammonia excretion Oxygen consumption Cancer antennarius In this study we evaluated physiological, metabolic and hematological responses for the crab Cancer antennarius todifferent copper sulfate concentrations (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2 .0 mg L-1). The evaluated responses w ere: the median lethal dose, osmoregul atory capacity, oxygen consumpti on, ammoni um excretion, atomic r elati on O:N, glucose, THC and hemocyaninconcentration. The median lethal dose (LD50) we found was 1.6 mg L-1 of copper sulfate. The pattern followed on most of theobserved responses was an increase directly proportional to the amount of copper sulfate concentration, except for osmoregulatorycapacity where the osmoregulation pattern, usually isosmotic in normal conditions, was modified to hyposmotic. In the atomicrelation O:N we observed a decrease in values due to changes in metabolic substrate as a result of stress caused by exposure tocopper sulfate. 2016 artículo científico 0717-3326 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=47946774010 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=479 Revista de Biología Marina y Oceanografía application/pdf Universidad de Valparaíso Revista de Biología Marina y Oceanografía (Chile) Num.2 Vol.51
