  • Tidal currents in the gulf of California: intercomparisons among two- and three-dimensional models with observations S. G. Marinone Ciencias de la Tierra tidal currents Gulf of California POM and HAMSOM models Two three-dimensional and one two-dimensional models are used to simulate the tides (heights andcurrents) in the Gulf of California. One of the three-dimensional models uses sigma coordinates and theother uses fixed vertical levels. The results of the models are compared to observations by means ofharmonic constants. It is found that tidal heights are better modelled with a simple two-dimensionalmodel, while tidal currents are better modelled with the three-dimensional model with fixed verticallevels 2000 artículo científico 0185-3880 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=48026205 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=480 Ciencias Marinas application/pdf Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Ciencias Marinas (México) Num.2 Vol.26
