contents Environmental behavior of soils and mixtures of soil-whitewash mud Maurício Paulo Fontes F. Carla Ribeiro Portugal Machado e Reginaldo Sérgio Pereira José Maurício Pires Machado Carlos Machado Cardoso Agrociencias Soils whitewash mud environmental problem industrial solid residue The present study sought to observe the behavior of soils in natural state and in mixtures,in different ratios, with the industrial solid residue called whitewash mud. The work was conducted with samplesof typical soils from the region of Alagoinhas, Bahia–Brazil. Wet chemical analysis and atomic absorptionspectrophotometry were used in order to obtain the classification of the industrial solid residue. Solubilizationand leaching tests were performed and X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy techniques were carriedout. The results showed that the whitewash mud was classified as non-inert, but with great capacity of heavymetal retention largely owed to the kaolinite and goethite presence in the clay fraction of the soils, makingit difficult to have heavy metals readily available for exchange 2004 artículo científico 0100-6762 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=48828317 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=488 Revista Árvore application/pdf Universidade Federal de Viçosa Revista Árvore (Brasil) Num.3 Vol.28
