contents 3D Modeling and functional analysis of a Spanish historical invention of the nineteenth century for mineral extraction: The Emilina Machine José Ignacio Rojas-Sola Juan Pedro Martínez-Escobar Ingeniería functional analysis historical invention computeraided design computeraided engineering Mining industrial historical he ritage In this paper, we analyze in detail a Spanish historical ninete enthcentury invention used for mineral extraction: the Emilina machine. In particular, threedimensional m odeling is performed using softw are parametric (CATIA v5) of each of the elements of the set. A lso, after obtaining the 3D model, a functional analysis using techniques of Computer Aided Engineering has been performed, based on the analysis of the von Mises stress and displacement, ensuring tha t the highest stress concentrations occur in the principal axis , the radii of the pulleys, the upper cable of the main drum, the connection b etween the secondary shaft and the main drum and the wood suppo rt structure, and that the highest concentration of displacements on the steering wheel of the steam machine, in the main shaft o n which it is coupled and in the pulleys. 2015 artículo científico 0012-7353 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=49635366002 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=496 Dyna application/pdf Universidad Nacional de Colombia Dyna (Colombia) Num.189 Vol.82
