  • Un enfoque de polinomio de expansión de caos al análisis de la incerteza en elementos estructurales visco elásticos Francisco Evangelista Jr Nelson Afanador-García Ingeniería Viscoelasti city relaxation modulus Stochastic analysis Polynomia l chaos expansi ons The uncertainty propagation in mechanical systems through model calculations was analyzed in this article by stochastic polyno mial series of standardized random variables called Polynomial Chaos Expans ion. This paper aimed to simulat e the propagation of uncertaint y in more complex mechanical models such viscoelastic structures which in volves time dependent parameters characterization of materials, interconversion of mathematical functions through Laplace trans form, and resolution of the constitutive equation through convo lution integrals. The application of m ulti-dimensional Hermite polynom ials series allowed the prediction of the randomness of the out put vector. In this work it was dem onstrated that a polynomial chaos expans ion accurately estimated the spread of uncertainty of the rando m variables.
