| contents | Cooperación intermunicipal e identidad territorial en espacios rurales: el futuro de la comarca Andrés Precedo Estudios Territoriales R58 Z13 social capital and cultural integreted local development spatial growth and policentric urban network This paper presents a reflection on future of the comarca( rural district),understood like a territory for the local cooperation in rural spaces, beingbased on the European and Spanish experiences. In the first place themodels applied in the Spanish regions settle down; next one analyzes themodel of Galicia, that contributed to the comarca a strategic value forthe integrated local development, the social cooperation and the citizenparticipation, with base in the identity and the sense of property. From anew perspective a new theory is constructed here that contributes to thecomarca like of cohesion territories internally that, by means of thecooperation, can be transformed into innovating, generating socialcapital and an increase of their competitiveness in the new context of thesystem of cities and the organization of the territory.
