contents FHP NURSES AND THE PREVENTION OF CERVIX CANCER André Luiz Jacinto da Silva Elisangela Lessa da Silva Marcio de Almeida da Silva Cacilda Meireles Vieira Elaine Antunes Cortez Anna Carolina S. Veneu Medicina Role of the nurse Primary prevention Family health program Uterine cervical neoplasms and vaginal smears Objective: To identify the actions of nurses in the prevention of cervix cancer, focusing on the understanding of women about uterine cervical neoplasms and vaginal smear exams along with factors and motives for not taking these exams. Method: Exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, done through bibliographic surveys in the VHL, using LILACS, BDENF and SciELO for data, in addition to the Revista Brasileira de Cancerologia. 9 bibliographies were selected, and after their reading and analysis 3 categories emerged. Results: We observed that in educational practice, participation of the entire multidisciplinary team is important, and that it is jointly aimed at working towards prevention, which is the foundation of the family health program. The consultation of nursing provides the nurse with conditions to act directly and independently with the clients, facilitating therapeutic adhesion, characterizing their professional autonomy. Difficulties were reported. Conclusion: Nurses depend not only on themselves to fulfill health programs, but there must be support from a multidisciplinary team, government and society, who all must try to juggle difficulties, through updating, getting close to the client, and seeking to put into effect preventative education in their UBS. All this with regard to the nurse/client relationship, based in dialogue, orientation, planning actions, and nurturing health. 2010 artículo científico 2175-5361 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=505750817023 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=5057 Revista de Pesquisa Cuidado é Fundamental Online application/pdf Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro Revista de Pesquisa Cuidado é Fundamental Online (Brasil) Num.1 Vol.2
