Method : exploratory study of quantitative character. The scenario was the Estacio de Sa University (campus Niteroi - RJ). The sub jects were 99 women. A structured interview was used for data collection and it was conducted after the research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the University. Results: analysis of the data collected has allowed to identify women's ignora nce on the subject and reduced participation of the nursing professional in the orientation of these women.
