In studying the museums of the Banco Central del Ecuador, it is shown how the Afro Ecuadorian identity is deliberately excluded from museum spaces that represent the official memory of theNation. This topic becomes even more important at times when the Afro Ecuadorian society, by means of collective mobilization and action, battles racism and exclusion. In that battle the Afro Ecuadorians try and reclaim a space where their culture and history can be adopted into theEcuadorian culture as a whole. This article answers two questions: The first being, what proposalsand policies do the museums of the Banco Central del Ecuador have in regards to the inclusion ofthe culture and history of the Afro Ecuadorians?
