contents Sustainable nitrogen fixation: Agrochemical research in food production adapted to planetary limits Lluís Pascual Emanuela Accardo Hermenegildo García Baldoví Comunicación Haber fertilisers Bosch process sustainability Nitrogen fixation Today’s global food production depends on the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen by using the Haber–Bosch process. The application of this catalytic system laid the foundations for the development of industrial agriculture and led to an unprecedented acceleration in the growth of human societies during the so-called Green Revolution. However, it appears that this production model will not be able to adapt to the current challenges of energy sustainability and climate crisis response. The Haber–Bosch cycle has a major impact on energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. In order to rethink this agri-food model, this present article examines chemical and technological development strategies to move towards an energy and environmentally sustainable model. 2025 artículo científico 2174-3487 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=511782473004 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782473004/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782473004/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782473004/511782473004.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782473004/movil 10.7203/metode.15.27595 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=5117 Mètode Science Studies Journal application/pdf Universitat de València Mètode Science Studies Journal (España) Num.2 Vol.15
