contents Ice caves in the face of climate change: Patterns of change in Picos de Europa Manuel Gómez Lende Enrique Serrano Comunicación Ice caves climate change high mountains Picos de Europa The changes brought about by the rising temperatures of ongoing global climate change are affecting the ecosystems of high mountains. The most affected are marginal environments, whose climate parameters are especially sensitive. This is the case of the highest mountains in the Iberian Peninsula, where the cryosphere still resists under its specific topoclimatic conditions, and where the general trend towards ice regression is exposing a hidden but equally affected environment: ice caves. This article presents the main impacts affecting the ice caves in the Picos de Europa mountain range over the past 15 years. We will examine their importance, the potential consequences of ice retreat, and their current patterns of change. 2025 artículo científico 2174-3487 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=511782477008 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782477008/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782477008/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782477008/511782477008.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/5117/511782477008/movil 10.7203/metode.15.30220 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=5117 Mètode Science Studies Journal application/pdf Universitat de València Mètode Science Studies Journal (España) Num.6 Vol.15
