  • The Role of Universities in the Development of Regions: Teaching Regional Science in 2005 Antoine Bailly Lay Gibson Peter Batey António Simões Lopes Estudios Territoriales At a recent Regional Science Association International meeting, the presidential address suggested that the future of Regional Science is tied to 1) acceptance by business and government and 2) curriculum developments that make regional science more appropriate for students considering careers in business and government. Our field needs to grow in size if it expects to embrace new cohorts of students and new public and private research demands.
