However, manyaquaculture farmscould reduce feed waste by usingchemicalattractants to concentrate fish during feeding. Objective: To test a tilapiaskin attractant. Methods: Attractants were tested with16159 mature and immature tilapiasin confined indoor freshwater and saltwater ponds, and inoutdoor ponds. Results: With the attractant, theimmature fish approached food faster than in the controls (p<0.05). Attractants extracted from waste skin reduce pollution, are not bio-accumulable in tissueand usereagents thatdo not affect meatquality becausethey are highly soluble in water. Conclusions: Theuse of skin attractantsis recommended as chum and not as an additive for foodunder controlled environments, but more research is needed in open environments. 2020 artículo científico 1659-4266 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=515664454011 es http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=5156 UNED Research Journal / Cuadernos de Investigación UNED application/pdf Universidad Estatal a Distancia UNED Research Journal / Cuadernos de Investigación UNED (Costa Rica) Num.2 Vol.12
