  • Inverted roles: Spider predation upon Neotropical velvet worms (Epiperipatus spp.; Onychophora: Peripatidae) Rosmery Franco Julián Monge-Nájera Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) Predatory behavior Neotropical invertebrates spider venom and onychophorans Velvet worms are ancient predators with Cambrian origins that occasionally prey on Ctenid spiders. Here we report the opposite case: wolf spiders (Ctenus spp.) feeding on Epiperipatus spp. in Colombia and Costa Rica. Apparently the worms could not expel their defensive adhesive, and the efficacy of the spider venom suggests that onychophoran nerves and muscles are biochemically equivalent to those of insects. 2016 artículo científico 1659-4266 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=515677858009 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=5156 UNED Research Journal / Cuadernos de Investigación UNED application/pdf Universidad Estatal a Distancia UNED Research Journal / Cuadernos de Investigación UNED (Costa Rica) Num.2 Vol.8
