contents Land Use Changes in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua: A Systems Dynamic Model Sergio Peña César M. Fuentes Demografía Stella Ciudad Juárez land use changes system of dynamic model The objective of this article is to offer a model to simulate land use changesin Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The city faces serious challenges posed byaccelerated demographic and urban growth. In its struggle to respond to urbanland development pressures, governments, planning agencies and social civilorganizations are overwhelmed by a multitude of concerns. The analysis of landuse change revolves around two central and interrelated questions: What drives/causes land use change? What are the environmental and socio-demographicimpacts of land change? The land use changes are approached as a complex systemin which the elements that define the system and how these relate to each areidentified. The development of dynamic simulation models that allow for thegeneration of different scenarios can be an important tool for urban planning. Thesoftware used to simulate the land uses changes is Stella®. The results of the modelsimulated the demand for land among different land uses (commercial, industrialand residential) in the next 10 or 20 years. 2007 artículo científico 0187-6961 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=53081603 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=530 Estudios Fronterizos application/pdf Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Estudios Fronterizos (México) Num.16 Vol.8
