| contents | Effect of seismic activities on ion temperature in the F2 region of the ionosphere R. Chand D. K. Sharma J. Rai M. Israil Biología F2 region joule heating Ion temperature seismic activity Ionospheric anomalies related to the seismic events have been analyzed in the present paper. The ionosphericion temperature data recorded by RPA payload aboard the Indian SROSS-C2 satellite are used for the periodfrom January 1995 to December 1996. Earthquake events recorded in the region of interest by USGS were usedto define the ionospheric ion temperature anomalies associated with the earthquake preparation, occurrenceand relaxation. Ionospheric ion temperature data were analyzed in such a way that the anomalies due to otherphenomena will not be masked over the temperature anomalies due to earthquakes. Ion temperature enhancements in the ionosphere were observed during earthquake events and few pre-post days to theevents. The seismogenic vertical electric field propagation up to ionospheric height induces the Joule heatingthat may cause the ion temperature enhancement. 2006 artículo científico 0187-6236 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=56519101 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=565 Atmósfera application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Atmósfera (México) Num.1 Vol.19 |
