contents Probabilistic description of rains and ENSO phenomenon in a coffee farm area in Veracruz, México J. L. Bravo C. Gay C. Conde F. Estrada Biología Veracruz coffee farms ENSO influence precipitation trends probabilistic forecast We have analyzed 37 years of climate data to describe the behavior of the precipitation and its relation withtemperature in coffee farm areas in the central part of the state of Veracruz, particularly in the municipalities ofCoscomatepec and Huatusco. We analyze the tendencies of the annual averages of the precipitation. Monthlyaverages of the precipitation are related with monthly averages of the temperature as useful parameters topredict intense rains. Gamma distributions were adjusted to total monthly precipitation to approximate theprobability of given intervals. Gumbel distributions were adjusted to daily extreme values for monthly intervalsand to monthly extremes for annual intervals. The relation of the precipitation and the El Niño/SouthernOscillation (ENSO) phenomenon is analyzed. The influence of ENSO over the precipitation was found to besignificant and translated as a reduction of the midsummer drought. 2006 artículo científico 0187-6236 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=56519201 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=565 Atmósfera application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Atmósfera (México) Num.2 Vol.19
