contents Estimation of multiple density-depth parameters from gravity inversion: Application to detached hanging wall systems of strike limited listric fault morphologies V. Chakravarthi M. Pramod Kumar Ciencias de la Tierra inversion finitestrike gravity anomaly arbitrary density density variations An inversion algorithm is developed tosimultaneously estimate the fault planegeometry and the parameters pertaining toeither densities or depths of multiple geologicformations within the hanging wall system ofa strike-limited listric fault from the observedgravity anomalies. Fault planes of the structuresare described by polynomial functions ofarbitrary but specific degree. The applicabilityof the algorithm is demonstrated on bothsynthetic and real field gravity anomalies. Inthe synthetic example, pseudorandom noise isadded to the gravity anomalies of the structureprior to inversion. From the inversion of gravityanomalies produced by a synthetic structure itwas found that the estimated parameters moreor less mimic the true parameters even in thepresence of random noise. The estimateddensities and depths of the formations fromindependent inversion of real-world gravityanomalies from the margin of the Chintalpudisub-basin in India correlate well with theavailable drilling information. 2015 artículo científico 0016-7169 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=56832992005 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=568 Geofísica Internacional application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Geofísica Internacional (México) Num.1 Vol.54
