contents Oscillations of the hydrometeorological characteristics in the region of Lake Chapala for intervals of days to decades Anatoliy E. Filonov Irina E. Tereshchenko César O. Monzón Ciencias de la Tierra Lake Chapala oscillations hydrometeorological characteristics A spectral analysis is presented for the principal hydrometeorological characteristics in the region of Lake Chapala: airtemperature, precipitation, evaporation, atmospheric pressure, wind, level of the lake and volume of flow of the rivers. The timeseries were grouped with equal discretization and duration. Using linear and nonlinear methods of spectral analysis (maximumentropy and maximum likelihood) the main periods were identified in the range of days to decades, obtaining estimates of themean square amplitudes. The physical causes of the oscillations are discussed as are the internal relationships between the fluctuationsof the different hydrometeorological parameters. The causes of the long-term variations in the level of the lake as well as theperiodic outbreaks of water lilies are discussed. 1998 artículo científico 0016-7169 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=56837404 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=568 Geofísica Internacional application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Geofísica Internacional (México) Num.4 Vol.37
