contents The role of poroviscosity in evaluating land subsidence due to groundwater extraction from sedimentary basin sequences James D. Jackson Donald C. Helm John C. Brumley Ciencias de la Tierra mining Poroviscosity land subsidence groundwater extraction This paper describes research being carried out on the development of the role of poroviscosity in determining land subsidencedue to groundwater extraction. Poroviscosity incorporates early-time (so-called instantaneous), intermediate (so-called primaryconsolidation) and late time (creep or so-called secondary compression) into one unified theory of time dependent skeletalcompression. It requires only one constant to be evaluated for one-dimensional behaviour and at any time exhibits a semilogarithmicstress/strain relationship. Poroviscous theory should accordingly provide an improved accuracy of land subsidence predictionresults when saturated sedimentary basin sequences are depressurized. 2004 artículo científico 0016-7169 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=56843418 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=568 Geofísica Internacional application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Geofísica Internacional (México) Num.4 Vol.43
