contents Magnetic studies of natural goethite samples from Tharsis, Huelva, Spain Marcos A. E. Chaparro Ana M. Sinito Juan C. Bidegain Raúl E. de Barrio Ciencias de la Tierra rock Tharsis Goethite hematite magnetism Magnetic properties of goethite have not been widely studied. Natural samples often contain complex mineral mixtures.Material from Tharsis (Huelva, Spain) is studied in order to corroborate the presence of goethite using rock magneticmeasurements. Measurements of magnetic susceptibility, isothermal remanent magnetisation (IRM), anhysteric remanentmagnetisation (ARM), and magnetic and thermal demagnetisation were carried out. X-ray diffraction and scanning electronmicroscopy were also carried out.The results are discussed and compared with previous studies of synthetic and natural goethites. The presence of magneticallyharder hematite was observed from IRM, thermal and non-magnetic studies. 2006 artículo científico 0016-7169 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=56845401 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=568 Geofísica Internacional application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Geofísica Internacional (México) Num.4 Vol.45
