- The climatic-environmental significance, status and socio- economic perspective of the grown-shade coffee agroecosystems in the central mountain region of Veracruz, Mexico David Loreto Manuel Esperón-Rodríguez Víctor L. Barradas Ciencias de la Tierra grown shade coffee cers welfare cherry coffee Agroecosystems Climate and vegetation coexist in a dynamic equilibrium. However, lack of vegetation can cause local and regional climate changes. Grown-shade coffee agro- ecosystem provides resources, environmental services and socio-economic benefits. We found that coffee production has decreased but its economical value has increased; however, the socio-economic indicators decreased. High deforestation rate is causing changes in the precipitation patterns and fog frequency, contributing to an environ- mental and socio-economical crisis in the region. This work presents an analysis of the influence of local and regional climate on the grown-shade coffee in central Veracruz, and the factors involved in land-use change with the respective consequences for the coffee producers. 2017 artículo científico 0188-4611 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=56950566008 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/569/56950566008/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/569/56950566008/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/569/56950566008/56950566008.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/569/56950566008/movil en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=569 Investigaciones Geográficas (Mx) application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Investigaciones Geográficas (Mx) (México) Num.92
