Medina-Noyola Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas dynamic arrest glass transition Colloidal dynamics This letter presents a remarkably simple approach to the first-principles determination of the ergodic/non-ergodic transition in monodispersecolloidal suspensions. It consists of an equation for the long-time asymptotic value ° of the mean squared displacement of the colloidalparticles, whose finite real solutions signal the non-ergodic state, and determines the non-ergodic parameter f(k). We illustrate its concreteapplication to three simple model colloidal systems, namely, hard-spheres, hard-spheres plus repulsive (screened Coulomb) Yukawainteraction, and hard-sphere plus attractive Yukawa tail. The results indicate that this is quite a competitive theory, similar in spirit to, butconceptually independent from, the well-known mode coupling theory. 2007 artículo científico 0035-001X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57053501 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=570 Revista Mexicana de Física application/pdf Sociedad Mexicana de Física A.C.
