Samples including silicates and non-silicates (native elements, halide, oxide, carbonate and phosphate groups) have beenexcited with a 1.8 MeV proton beam, and IL spectra in the range of 200- 900 nm have been collected for each one using a fiber optic coupledspectrometer. Light emissions have been related to Cr 3+, Mn2+ and Pr3+ ions, as well as intrinsic defects in these minerals. Results showthe potential of IL for impurity characterization with high detection limits, local symmetry studies, and the study of the origin of minerals 2008 artículo científico 0035-001X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57054202 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=570 Revista Mexicana de Física application/pdf Sociedad Mexicana de Física A.C.
