contents On the scaling properties of the total y*p cross section M.N. Mondragon J.G. Contreras Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas Geometric Scaling Deep Inelastic Scattering We perform a detailed analysis on the scaling properties of the total °¤p cross section, ¾°¤p. We write the cross section as a product of twofunctions W and V representing, respectively, the dynamical degrees of freedom and the contribution from the valence partons. Analyzingdata from HERA and fixed target experiments, we find that V is independent of Q2 and concentrated at large x, while W carries all theinformation on the Q2 evolution of °¤p. We define the reduced cross section ~¾°¤p ´ W = ¾°¤p=V , and show that it is very close to ageneralized homogeneous function. This property gives rise to geometric scaling for ~¾°¤p and it also explains the known geometric scaling of¾°¤p at low x. As a consequence of our Ansatz, we also obtain a compact parameterization of ¾°¤p describing all data above Q2 = 1 GeV2 2006 artículo científico 0035-001X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57065309 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=570 Revista Mexicana de Física application/pdf Sociedad Mexicana de Física A.C.
