| contents | Needs and requirements for future x-ray observations of hot galactic halos G. Fabbiano Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas RAYS: GALAXIES GALAXIES: HALOS ISM: JETS AND OUTFLOWS Galaxies are key objects for the study of cosmology, the life cycle of matter, and stellar evolution. X-ray observations have given us a new key window intothese building blocks of the Universe, that allows us to investigate their hot gaseouscomponent. While the study of these hot plasmas has important astrophysical andcosmological relevance, and signicant advances in our knowledge are expectedfrom Chandra and XMM, there are a number of fundamental questions that requirea next generation of X-ray telescopes. These telescopes need to be 10{30 square-meter class telescopes, with Chandra-like resolution, and with a suite of instrumentsallowing spectral imaging at moderate to high resolution. 2000 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57100905 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.9 |
