contents Error estimates for emission lines in the hydrogen and helium isosequences R. K. Smith N. S. Brickhouse Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas MATION LINE: FOR ATOMIC DATA ATOMIC PROCESSES Emission lines from hydrogen and helium isosequence are among the strongestin X-ray spectra; they will soon be used to measure the temperature, density, andequilibrium state of collisionally excited, astrophysical plasmas. We have createda new plasma code, APEC, which calculates the emission from such a plasma.APEC calculates the line emission from the direct electron and proton excitationrate and the radiative and dielectronic recombination rate. We show how di erentcollisional plasma codes give varying emissivities for some strong lines of O VII andFe XXVI, where direct excitation is the primary e ect. This variation is partly dueto simple di erences in the plasma code. However, the primary reason is that muchwork remains to be done on experimental and theoretical calculations of the atomicrates. Large ( 50%) di erences exist even for excitation rates for hydrogenic ions. 2000 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57100933 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.9
