Rozas Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas GIONS H II RE GALAXIES: ISM GALAXIES: SPIRAL INTERGALACTIC MEDIUM We present a study of the di use ionized gas (DIG) for a sample of nearbyspiral galaxies using H images, after constructing their H II region catalogues. The integrated H emission of the DIG accounts for between 25% to 60% of thetotal H of the galaxy and a high ionizing photon ux is necessary to keep thisgas ionized. We suggest that Lyman photons leaking from the most luminous H IIregions are the prime source of the ionization of the DIG; they are more than enoughto ionize the measured DIG in the model in which H II regions with luminosity in H greater than LStr = 1038:6 erg s 2000 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57100974 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.9
