contents An extended multi-zone model for the MCG-6-30-15 warm absorber R. Morales A. C. Fabian C. S. Reynolds Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas 30 15 RAYS: GALAXIES GALAXIES: ACTIVE GALAXIES: SEYFERT The variable warm absorber seen with ASCA in the X-ray spectrum of MCG{6-30-15 shows complex time behaviour in which the optical depth of O VIII anticor-relates with the ux whereas that of O VII is unchanging. The explanation in termsof a two zone absorber has since been challenged by BeppoSAX observations. Thesepresent a more complicated behaviour for the O VII edge. The explanation we o erfor both ASCA and BeppoSAX observations requires a very simple photoionizationmodel together with the presence of a third, intermediate, zone and a period of verylow luminosity. In practice warm absorbers are likely to be extended, multi-zoneregions of which only part causes directly observable absorption edges at any giventime depending on the value of the luminosity. 2000 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57100984 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.9
