contents Iron lines from grbs: clues toward the progenitor M. Böttcher Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas GAMMA RAYS: BURSTS SUPERNOVAE: GENERAL We investigate the currently most popular models of gamma{ray burst (GRB)progenitors in terms of potentially observable prompt or delayed X{ray spectralfeatures. We focus on quasi{thermal X{ray line features from ejecta of a supernovarelated to the GRB. In the framework of the Hypernova/Collapsar model, delayed(a few days { several months after the GRB) bursts of line{dominated, thermalX{ray emission may be expected. The He{merger scenario predicts similar X{rayemission line bursts in the days following the the GRB. These X{ray signaturesshould be observable with Chandra and XMM out to rather large redshifts. Weakemission line features a few days after the GRB may also result from the supranovaGRB scenario. In all three cases, signicant X{ray absorption features, in particularduring the prompt GRB phase, are expected. No signicant X{ray spectral featuresresult from compact{object binary mergers. 2001 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57101040 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.10
