contents Hipparcos, iue, and the stellar content of the solar neighbourhood Carlos Allende Prieto Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas TYPE RAMETERS BOURHOOD STARS: LATE SOLAR NEIGH The spectroscopic parallaxes in the Hipparcos catalogue can be used to trans-late absolute stellar uxes observed at Earth to the uxes emerging at the stellarsurface for nearby stars. The comparison of these uxes with the predictions of the-oretical model atmospheres allows us to determine the e ective temperature andthe metallicity of the stars.
