- H2 observations of outflows from young stars Christopher J. Davis Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas MAIN SEQUENCE STARS: PRE ISM: HERBIG HARO OBJECTS Recent near-IR observations of Herbig-Haro (HH) jets and molecular outows from very young, deeply embeddedprotostars are discussed. Proper motion measurements, and both low- and high-resolution spectroscopicstudies reveal the excitation and kinematics of individual objects, which may be interpreted in terms of highvelocitybow shocks which sweep up and entrain ambient material to form molecular \CO" outows. Theobserved properties of many objects can be explained reasonably well with magnetized bow C-shock models, although J-type shocks cannot be ruled out. We also discuss new echelle observations of the outow sourcesthemselves. These H2 data reveal intermediate and high-velocity line emission from the base of the outow(from within a few hundred AU of the driving source) in most of the ows observed. The properties of these\Molecular Hydrogen Emission Line"|or MHEL|regions, are similar to those of Forbidden Emission Line(FEL) regions towards T Tauri stars. 2002 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57101308 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.13
