| contents | MHD Jets in inhomogeneous media S. O´Sullivan T. Lery Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas MAIN SEQUENCE STARS: PRE MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMICS ISM: JETS AND OUTFLOWS We present simulations of the propagation of non-adiabatic molecular jets into an inhomogeneous ambientmedium. The jets have inow conditions described by a MHD jet model where the shape of the magneticeld lines is prescribed near the source. Ambient density proles are chosen to represent the transition zonebetween the outer regions of a molecular cloud and the ISM. We have scaled the atomic and molecular coolingrates to appropriate levels in order to properly resolve all length scales involved. With the inclusion of sourcevariability, the simulations reproduce several observational features of molecular jets such as molecular cavities.Additionally, we nd similarities between theory and observation for the ionization fraction along the jet. Thelateral extent of the internal working surfaces is found to be sensitive to the environment. We also presentpreliminary results from a method of calculating emission line maps using only fundamental state variablesthat seems to reproduce the observed lamentary Balmer emission on shock fronts. 2002 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57101319 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.13 |
