Miranda Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas ISM: JETS AND OUTFLOWS PLANETARY NEBULAE: GENERAL Binary stars are believed to be involved in some way in the formation of many collimated outows observedin planetary nebulae. The direct detection of binary central stars is observationally dicult, so that indirectmethods o er an interesting alternative for inferring the presence of a binary. It has been recently proposedthat a di erence between the systemic velocity of a collimated (bipolar) outow and that of the main shell isdirect evidence for orbital motion. We present and discuss this method and show data of Hu 2-1 and IC 4846,two planetary nebulae with multiple collimated components, in which the aforementioned systemic velocitiesclearly di er from each other. The orbital parameters estimated in Hu 2-1 and IC 4846 are typical of interactingbinaries and suggest that the origin of the collimated outows in these two planetary nebulae is an accretiondisk around a companion. 2002 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57101328 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.13
