| contents | Formation and Evolution of Self-Interacting Dark Matter Halos Kyungjin Ahn Paul R. Shapiro Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas Large Cosmology : Dark Matter Scale Structure of Universe Galaxies: Kinematics and Dynamics We study the formation and evolution of self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) halos. We find analytical, fully cosmological similarity solutions for their dynamics, which take proper account of the collisional interaction of SIDM particles, based on a fuid approximation derived from the Boltzmann equation. These similarity solutions are relevant to galactic and cluster halo formation in the cold dark matter (CDM) model. Different solutions arise for different values of the dimensionless collisionality parameter, Q= σρbrs , where σ is the SIDM particle scattering cross section per unit mass, ρb is the cosmic mean density, and rs is the shock radius. For all solutions, a flat-density, isothermal core is present which grows in size as a fixed fraction of rs1 pumped by cosmological infall. Accordingly, core collapse must in general be delayed until infall becomes negligible, contrary to previous analyses based on isolated halos, which predict core collapse in a Hubble time. Our solutions agree with N-body simulations, which match observed galactic rotation curves if Q ~ [1.37 x 10-2 1.7 x 10-1], cm2 g-1, implying Q ~ [6.2 x 10-7 3.6 x 10-5]. Similar profiles also arise for, Q ~ [1.37 x 10-2 1.7 x 10-1], or [1.2 x 104 - 2.7 x 104] cm2 g-1, a regime not previously simulated. 2003 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57101802 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.18 |
