- Stagnation knots in planetary nebulae J. A. López A. J. Lim W. Steffen Física, Astronomía y Matemáticas AGB ERAL HYDRODYNAMICS STARS: AGB AND POST ISM: JETS AND OUTFLOWS We present an alternative model for the formation of fast low-ionization emission regions (FLIERs) in planetarynebulae. In this model, a concave bow-shock structure is formed as a result of a reduced momentum ow alongthe symmetry axis of a stellar wind. FLIERS are formed from the shocked ambient medium. Since in the concaveregion of the bow-shock the ambient material can not ow away from the symmetry axis, it is compressed intoa dense knot or jet-like feature. In the presence of a variable stellar wind these knots eventually overrun theexpanding nebular shell and may appear as detached FLIERS. We present two-dimensional hydrodynamicsimulations of the formation and early evolution of stagnation knots and jets. 2002 artículo científico 0185-1101 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=57112052 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=571 Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Mexicana de Astronomía y Astrofísica (México) Vol.12
